Library Board President Hilde Van Gijssel honored at NDLA Conference as Library Champion.
October 12th 2023
Every year NDLA (North Dakota Library Association) has a conference open to all North Dakota librarians to talk about issues in librarianship. VCBC Public Library staff were especially excited to attend 2023 conference in Fargo, ND. They had nominated Library Board President Hilde Van Gijssel as Library Champion.
To be considered as a librarian champion according to NDLA Legislative Committee “An individual in a leadership position—Federal, state, city, or county—who has supported and/or advocated for a library or libraries in North Dakota” (NDLA). Valley City Barnes County Public Library was eager to nominate Professor Hilde Van Gijssel. Library staff felt her support of the library as board president and the community was something worth recognizing.
